The Road to Home is now available to watch in high definition via the Dancing Turtle shop, marking the first time the film has been made available as an on demand stream. The film has screened at festivals internationally and has been available on DVD, but can now be accessed from anywhere in the world in the best quality yet.
The Road to Home features Benny Wenda, the West Papuan independence leader, and traces both his personal journey and the broader movement he represents — the decades-long struggle of the West Papuan people for self-determination against Indonesian occupation. It is a story that has grown more urgent, not less, since the film was made.
Under President Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia has dramatically escalated its military presence across West Papua, deploying hundreds of new battalions to secure large-scale resource extraction and agricultural projects on indigenous land. As of December 2025, over 105,000 people in West Papua were internally displaced, with drone strikes and indiscriminate use of explosive munitions reported in the central highlands. The international community has largely looked the other way.
Benny Wenda continues to lead the United Liberation Movement for West Papua from exile in Oxford. The film remains one of the few documents of his story available to a general audience.
The Road to Home is available to stream now at the Dancing Turtle shop. Watch the trailer below.
