About Burn Paper Tigers

Originally known as Hospital Bombers, the band released their debut single on Dancing Turtle in 2007, marking the beginning of a distinct and evolving sound. As their style developed, the core line-up settled as Chris Austin (guitar and vocals), Driver (bass), Hannah Prescott (guitar), and Chris Taylor (drums and guitar). Through a series of live shows across the Medway towns, they honed a raw, melodic sound that quickly gained local attention.

Following Hannah Prescott’s departure, the band re-emerged as Burn Paper Tigers, continuing to write and record new material while collaborating with musicians including Robert Fuller. This period saw further experimentation and refinement, as they pushed their sound in new directions. The project came to a close at the end of 2009, when the members went their separate ways to pursue other musical paths.

Chris Austin later formed Tape Error, who signed with Dancing Turtle and released their debut EP in early 2013. Tragically, Chris passed away in July 2013, just one day after being diagnosed with liver cancer. During their time together, Burn Paper Tigers self-released two EPs, Note and Book. In tribute, a collection of the band’s recordings has since been compiled and made available as a free download — an enduring record of their work.
