Medway-based band Burn Paper Tigers were the vehicle for the late Chris Austin’s songs between 2007 and 2009. Originally called Hospital Bombers, the band released their debut single on Dancing Turtle in 2007. As their sound evolved, they settled on a line up of Chris Austin (guitar/vocals), Driver (bass), Hannah Prescott (guitar) and Chris Taylor (drums/guitar), honing the sound with a series of live shows across the Medway towns.
The band’s name changed to Burn Paper Tigers following Hannah’s departure from the band, and they continued making music with collaborators including Robert Fuller until the end of 2009, before the band went their separate ways to focus on other music projects.
Chris Austin went on to form Tape Error, a band who were signed by Dancing Turtle and released their debut EP in early 2013. Chris Austin tragically passed away in July 2013, just a day after discovering he had liver cancer. Having only self-released a duet of EP’s (“Note” and “Book”) during their time making music together, a collection of Burn Paper Tiger’s recordings has been collated and made available for free download. Please download and share widely.
